Beit Uri’s Community Living Project $277,800 (NIS 1,000,000)
There is a critical shortage of housing in Israel, especially in peripheral areas of the country, for people with disabilities who are able to live within the community. In order to respond to this need, Beit Uri’s Community Living Project seeks to accommodate adults with more independent living skills with housing in the nearby Afula neighborhood of Givat HaMoreh. Situated close to the Beit Uri village, a recently purchased house will enable residents to enjoy Beit Uri services but also live and work comfortably within the greater community.
The Beit Uri staff will provide ongoing supervision, care and assistance in finding employment in order to best integrate the residents into their local community. They will be able to participate in activities of interest both in the area and in Beit Uri. They will use public transport, enjoy the local parks and make use of municipal facilities, just like other Afula residents.
Renovations $277,800
Air conditioning and Heating $33,400
Equipment and Furniture $41,700

Therapy Programs
Animal Therapy Program - $25,000 (96,000 NIS)
Animal therapy is offered to residents of all ages, allowing them to work closely with the animals and take on responsibilities - feeding and caring for the animals and their surroundings. This is an important opportunity to take care of others - for people who are so used to receiving care themselves.
The beautiful pet corner at Beit Uri is in need of more therapy hours to make this unique therapeutic tool available to many more Beit Uri residents and school children.

Snoezelen Room - $18,700 (NIS 67,300)
The Snoezelen is a multi-sensory room with options for focusing attention on certain senses, and neutralizing other stimuli, creating a balance between activity and calm, thus stimulating reactions and encouraging communication, behavioral regulation as well as functional skill levels. The room is designed to provide stimuli to various senses using sound, music, scents, textures, lighting effects, colors, etc. The dark, quiet room has bright lights that can be activated through various technologies and the therapy used in the Snoezelen does not rely on verbal communication.
Beit Uri currently has a large room available that has been adapted into a Snoezelen. This room is still in need of acoustic insulation of the walls and ceiling, installing a waterbed, ball pit, bubble stand, optic fiber stand, a projector, together with accessories such as an interactive remote, handheld sensory stimulators, and toys that are used in Snoezelen therapy.
Drama, Music and Movement Therapy – $40,500 (156,000 NIS)
The education program and a large part of therapeutic activities at Beit Uri revolve around intensive exposure to a range of art forms including music, and eurythmy (movement, music and words). These mediums are especially conducive to fostering the harmonious development of the whole human being.
The introduction of large, specially- made instruments has produced rewarding results. Enabling the individual not only to hear, but also to feel vibrations through body movements, such musical activities become not only an acoustic but a holistic physical experience where the intricacies of tone, interval and rhythm provide invaluable stimulation.

Inclusive Employment Project: Beit Uri Café-Gallery - $40,000 (154,000 NIS)
Restaurant work provides many learning opportunities in a wide range of skills including menu planning, food preparation, taking orders, serving, teamwork and general interaction with the public. These skills are key to working in any food-based business and are also important for independent living.
The Beit Uri Cafe-Gallery serves as an example to the community of an organization that provides a service to the community while promoting inclusion in the workplace and creating opportunities for breaking down barriers between people with and without disabilities in society.
Current needs of the Beit Uri Cafe-Gallery

Therapeutic Gardening program - $115,200 (NIS 423,000)
The therapeutic garden, Gan Bustan, at Beit Uri will be an integral part of the village, serving as both a place of employment as well as a place to relax and enjoy spare time. A therapeutic garden promotes creativity, activity, friendships and connection, all critical elements of a healthy community experience.
The allotted two dunam plot will be worked on by residents under the guidance of gardening therapists, as they grow organic vegetables, flowers and various fruit trees. Other residents, families and community members will be able to enjoy the garden’s pleasant sitting areas, visit the greenhouse and make use of the campfire corner.

Stage sound and lighting equipment – $35,000 (135,000 NIS)
Sign-language course for care–givers of deaf residents - $3,000 (11,500 NIS)
Greenhouse maintenance and herb-drying rehabilitation workshop - $4,500 (17,300 NIS)
Ceramic pottery kiln - $8,500 (30,000 NIS)
Support a Beit Uri Resident - $10,000 (38,500 NIS) annually
The basic needs of Beit Uri’s residents up to the age of 21, such as clothing, food, education and living accommodations are funded by Israel’s Ministries of Education, Welfare & Social Affairs. However, financial support for additional care-givers, afternoon arts and crafts workshops and various therapeutic activities such as pet therapy, physical, occupational and speech therapy, hydrotherapy and horse riding is still needed.
