"For every person there is a place"

Nestled on a hill, overlooking the northern Jezreel Valley and the city of Afula, lies a unique village that is home to over 120 children, youth, and adults with multiple disabilities, including intellectual and physical disabilities, behavioral challenges and autism. It's a place filled with love, care, and community.

Everyone deserves a place to call home; a place to live in, a place to grow, feel valued, and be cared for. This green, spacious community provides all of these in a way that caters to each individual's special needs. There is a school for children aged 6 to 21, while adults take part in creative ability-based workshops tailored to their abilities, such as candle making, ceramics, and woodwork. Afternoons are filled with leisure activities helping everyone thrive in their own way. and a staffed medical clinic is available 24/7.

Beit Uri is brought to life by a devoted team of over 100 staff members and inspiring young volunteers who dedicate a year of service to our mission.

The residents of Beit Uri are diverse in their abilities and needs. Consequently, their daily lives are guided by Beit Uri’s anthroposophical philosophy, which proposes that behind each individual's disabilities lies a healthy personality that can emerge through a warm, nurturing, and creative environment. This essence is the cornerstone of Beit Uri.

Founded in 1969 by the late Devora Schick- a Holocaust survivor - in memory of her own handicapped son, Beit Uri is a not-for-profit association run by a Board of Trustees and funded primarily by the Israeli Ministries of Welfare and Education and in part by private donations.
